Volunteer “Agent” Wins Job with Word-of-Mouth Leader BzzAgent
Jennifer Harbourn Named Company’s “OmBzzman”
(Boston, MA) August 10, 2009 – BzzAgent®, an international word-of-mouth marketing and media network powered by 600,000 consumer volunteers, today announced Jennifer Harbourn as the grand prize winner of the company’s “Win a Job” challenge. Selected from a group of nine finalists, Harbourn has been awarded a $5,000/month part-time position as the company’s “OmBzzman.” She will be responsible for helping BzzAgent promote its new BzzScapesTM digital content platform.
The eight-week challenge was introduced as part of the May launch of the BzzScapes platform, a network of nearly 700,000 user-generated brand communities. Each week the most active member of a designated BzzScape qualified for the grand prize. Finalists were then asked to share, in writing, their ideas for promoting the BzzScapes platform to other BzzAgent members, or Agents.
BzzAgent’s director of community relations, Jonathan O’Toole, known to Agents simply as Jono, said, “Right off the bat, Jennifer had an impressive understanding of our BzzScapes site, and her ideas for promoting BzzScapes were both imaginative and practical. We’re excited to have a member from our community serve as a liaison between the company and our member network.” O’Toole added that all of the challenge finalists were outstanding candidates.
As OmBzzman, Harbourn will be responsible for helping grow the BzzScapes community through a number of activities including: providing support to BzzAgent’s 600,000-member Agent community, contributing OmBzzman-branded BzzScapes content, and monitoring the social site. She was selected for her social media knowledge and writing skills, as well as her leadership within the BzzScapes community. Harbourn has been an active BzzAgent member for more than three years, participating in more than 30 campaigns for a variety of products and services.
“I’ve been a fan of BzzAgent for several years now, so when I found out about the BzzScapes challenge, I was ready to give it my best effort to win,” said Harbourn. “BzzScapes offers a place for Agents, like myself, to share our experiences and opinions about the brands we love. I’m excited to share my expertise and collaborate with the BzzAgent team to help grow the community.”
Released in May, BzzScapes is the only social platform developed solely to empower everyday people to build communities for their favorite brands. The “Win a Job” challenge is an extension of BzzAgent’s “give back” initiatives, including the “Back of the Hive” program, in which the company provides free office space for entrepreneurs and recently laid off individuals. BzzAgent also runs a “GoodBzz” initiative in which it donates its services pro bono to non-profit organizations. BzzAgent plans to roll out a new BzzScapes community challenge with another exciting grand prize shortly.
